PlayStation is giving X ( fka Twitter ) the boot . Sony has denote PlayStation gamers will no longer be able to share their gaming clips and screenshots to the beleaguered social internet .
While Sony did n’t provide a grounds for the decision , from this calendar month it ’ll be disabling and removing the Twitter integration on PS4 andPS5consoles . As well as the screen seizure , gamers wo n’t be able to share their trophy or other gameplay concern natural process either .
“ As of November 13 , 2023 , integration with X ( formerly known as Twitter ) will no longer function on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 consoles , ” Sony says in a newsupport page .
“ This include the ability to consider any cognitive content published on X on PS5 / PS4 , and the ability to place and consider depicted object , trophy , and other gameplay - concern activities on Adam directly from PS5 / PS4 ( or associate an X account to do so ) . ”
Sony describe it as a “ termination ” and while we ca n’t accurately see the logical thinking without Sony offer one , one can read between the lines and suggest this is n’t an amicable split up . It ’s perhaps related to owner Elon Musk ’s decision to shoot account outrageous fees for access to the Twitter API
Under Musk ’s leaders , content provider and developers have been frustrated by decisions that make it more hard to interact with content when post to X.
Twitter / X disabled links from Substack and , more late , wo n’t load clause previews and headlines from any third - party sites within posts . X now just record the main image accompanied with the article .
Now , gamers will be able to apportion their captures only through more dedicated providers like YouTube .
